“In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. The Word became flesh and dwells in us.” (John 1)
“태초에 말씀이 계시니라 이 말씀이 하나님과 함께 계셨으니 이 말씀은 곧 하나님이시니라. 말씀이 육신이 되어 우리 가운데 거하시매.” (요한복음 1장)
Our physical birth is God’s incarnation, for incarnation signifies the assumption by a divine being of human or animal form.
우리의 육체적 탄생은 하나님의 성육신입니다. 성육신이란 신적인 존재가 인간이나 동물의 형상을 취하는 것을 의미하기 때문입니다.
When you were born your little human form was assumed by God.
여러분이 태어났을 때 여러분의 작은 인간 형상은 하나님에 의해 취해졌습니다.
Christmas marks the departure from God’s incarnation and your birth as God.
크리스마스는 하나님의 성육신으로부터의 출발과 하나님으로서의 여러분의 탄생을 의미합니다.
There are two births: one when God assumes your human form and the other when you assume the divine form as God!
두 가지 탄생이 있습니다. 하나는 하나님께서 여러분의 인간 형상을 취하실 때이고, 다른 하나는 여러분이 하나님으로서 신적인 형상을 취하실 때입니다!
The first birth is from below, while the second birth – called Christmas – is from above.
첫 번째 탄생은 아래로부터 오고, 두 번째 탄생 – 크리스마스라고 불리는 – 은 위로부터 옵니다.
Every child born of woman is God incarnate, or the child could not be aware that he is.
여자에게서 태어난 모든 아이는 성육신하신 하나님입니다. 그렇지 않다면 아이는 자신이 존재한다는 것을 인식할 수 없을 것입니다.
His consciousness is God’s incarnation.
그의 의식은 하나님의 성육신입니다.
The world, not knowing this, celebrates the wrong event. for Christmas is when man becomes conscious of being God.
세상은 이것을 알지 못하고 엉뚱한 사건을 기념합니다. 크리스마스는 인간이 자신이 하나님임을 의식하게 되는 때이기 때문입니다.
Here are a few paradoxes which disturb many people. All of these are actual quotes or interpretations of a quote:

“I shall no longer speak to you in figures, but tell you plainly of the Father.”

“Show us the Father. If you knew me you would not ask, for no one can know me in the true sense and not know God, for He and I are inseparable.”
“우리에게 아버지를 보여 주옵소서. 너희가 나를 알았더라면 묻지 아니하였으리라. 아무도 참된 의미에서 나를 알고 하나님을 알지 못할 수 없으니, 그와 나는 분리될 수 없기 때문이라.”
Who is the father who is one with his son, yet greater than he?
아들과 하나이면서도 아들보다 더 큰 아버지는 누구입니다?
Can he be the son of God, yet God the Father?
그가 하나님의 아들이면서 동시에 하나님 아버지일 수 있습니까?
And how can I ever know that I and my Father are one? Let us try to solve these strange contradictions.
그리고 나와 내 아버지가 하나라는 것을 어떻게 알 수 있습니까? 이 이상한 모순들을 풀어봅시다.
In the last chapter of the Book of Revelation, God says: “I am the root and the offspring of David, the bright morning star.”
요한계시록 마지막 장에서 하나님은 말씀하십니다: “나는 다윗의 뿌리요 자손이니 곧 광명한 새벽 별이라.”
God is the root, the source, the cause of all life.
하나님은 뿌리요, 근원이요, 모든 생명의 원인이십니다.
He is the father of David, yet his offspring!
그분은 다윗의 아버지이시면서 동시에 그의 자손이십니다!
As the source God is David’s father, called Jesse or I AM.
근원으로서 하나님은 다윗의 아버지이시며, 이새 또는 ‘나는 스스로 있는 자(I AM)’라고 불리십니다.
As the offspring David is called the son of God.
자손으로서 다윗은 하나님의 아들이라고 불립니다.
The prophet Samuel spoke to David, saying: “God declared that when your days are fulfilled, and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise up your son after you who will come forth from your body. I will be his father and he shall be my son.” (II Samuel 7)
선지자 사무엘은 다윗에게 말했습니다: “하나님께서 선언하시기를 네 날이 차서 네 조상들과 함께 누울 때에 내가 네 몸에서 날 네 씨를 네 뒤에 세워 그의 나라를 견고하게 하리라. 나는 그의 아버지가 되고 그는 내 아들이 되리라.” (사무엘하 7장)
Here we see that the root and the offspring are one.
여기서 우리는 뿌리와 자손이 하나임을 봅니다.
I (the root of David) am the cause of all life.
나 (다윗의 뿌리)는 모든 생명의 원인입니다.
In spite of that I come out of David, recognise him and say: “Thou art my son, today I have begotten thee.”
그럼에도 불구하고 나는 다윗에게서 나와, 그를 알아보고 말합니다: “너는 내 아들이라 오늘 내가 너를 낳았도다.”
As God the Father, I assume the limitations of the flesh. and using one who is a man after my heart and will do all my will, I become conscious of being a rich man, a poor man, a beggar, and a thief, until David reveals me as his father.

“I came to do the will of my Father yet I am the Father, for God the Father and the Son of God is one I AM.”

There is only God in the world.
세상에는 오직 하나님만이 계십니다.
As the father God created a perfect play.
아버지로서 하나님은 완벽한 연극을 창조하셨습니다.
As the son God plays all the parts.
아들로서 하나님은 모든 역할을 연기하십니다.
As the son God is restricted in his activities.
아들로서 하나님은 그의 활동에 제약을 받습니다.
But when the drama is finished God leaves the world of Caesar – greatly expanded – and returns to himself, the Father.
그러나 드라마가 끝나면 하나님은 시저의 세상 – 크게 확장된 – 을 떠나 자신, 즉 아버지께로 돌아가십니다.
As the son God suffers.
아들로서 하나님은 고통받으십니다.
Ask a man who is suffering and he will answer, I am!

That’s the Father, who has become incarnate by assuming human form.
그것이 바로 인간의 형상을 취함으로써 성육신하신 아버지이십니다.
When the play is over for him, God will leave the world as the son, to return to the kingdom of heaven as the Father.
그를 위한 연극이 끝나면, 하나님은 아들로서 세상을 떠나 아버지로서 하늘나라로 돌아가실 것입니다.
In our mystery this event is called Christmas.
우리의 신비에서는 이 사건을 크리스마스라고 부릅니다.
Your entrance into this world is God’s incarnation.
이 세상으로의 여러분의 입장은 하나님의 성육신입니다.
His departure occurs when his promise to himself is fulfilled in you and you experience a wonderful series of mystical events.
그분의 떠남은 그분 자신에게 하신 약속이 여러분 안에서 성취되고 여러분이 경이로운 일련의 신비로운 사건들을 경험할 때 일어납니다.
Like Paul, I pray that those who believe my message of salvation will know it is true. that the name I gave them for God is not mere poetry, but fact – that you are the Father.
바울처럼, 저는 제 구원의 메시지를 믿는 사람들이 그것이 사실임을 알기를 기도합니다. 제가 그들에게 준 하나님의 이름이 단순한 시가 아니라 사실 – 여러분이 아버지라는 사실 – 이기를 바랍니다.
I have told them what happened in me.

Grant them to know it is true.

I am sure my departure will quicken the pace for those who have heard, accepted, and believed my words.

Now, a gentleman wrote, saying: “I fell asleep and dreamed I was reading the newspaper, looking at a full-page advertisement for Western Airlines.
이제, 한 신사분이 편지를 써서 이렇게 말했습니다: “저는 잠이 들었고 신문을 읽는 꿈을 꾸었는데, 웨스턴 항공의 전면 광고를 보고 있었습니다.
They were announcing their new P.D. system, which would eliminate all passenger congestion when boarding the plane.
그들은 비행기 탑승 시 모든 승객 혼잡을 없앨 새로운 P.D. 시스템을 발표하고 있었습니다.
Suddenly the page became animated and I am in the picture, grinning from ear to ear as I awoke.”
갑자기 그 페이지가 살아 움직였고 저는 그 그림 속에 있었는데, 깨어났을 때 귀까지 활짝 웃고 있었습니다.”
In his letter he wondered why the initials P.D.
그의 편지에서 그는 왜 약자가 P.D.인지 궁금해했습니다.
He thought the D could be for departure, but could not understand the P. although he used the word “plan” throughout his letter.
그는 D가 출발(departure)을 의미할 수 있다고 생각했지만, 편지 전체에 “계획(plan)”이라는 단어를 사용했음에도 불구하고 P를 이해할 수 없었습니다.
Everything contains within itself the capacity for symbolic significance.
모든 것은 그 자체 내에 상징적 의미를 가질 수 있는 능력을 포함하고 있습니다.
This gentleman is in advertising so naturally, in the dream he is looking at an ad.
이 신사분은 광고업에 종사하시므로 당연히 꿈에서 광고를 보고 있습니다.
In this modern world we have planes which take man from earth to the skies and bring him back again.
이 현대 세계에는 인간을 지상에서 하늘로 데려갔다가 다시 데려오는 비행기가 있습니다.
But this is a plan of transportation.
그러나 이것은 운송 계획입니다.
In the Book of Ephesians, we read: “He has made known unto us the mystery of his will in all wisdom and insight according to his purpose which he set forth as a plan in Christ for the fullness of time to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.”
에베소서에서 우리는 읽습니다: “그가 모든 지혜와 총명으로 우리에게 그 뜻의 비밀을 알리셨으니 곧 그 기쁘심을 따라 그리스도 안에서 때가 찬 경륜을 위하여 예정하신 것이니 하늘에 있는 것이나 땅에 있는 것이 다 그리스도 안에서 통일되게 하려 하심이라.”
My friend called it the departure.
제 친구는 그것을 출발이라고 불렀습니다.
This does not necessarily mean that he goes tonight or in the next forty years.
이것이 반드시 그가 오늘 밤이나 앞으로 40년 안에 간다는 것을 의미하지는 않습니다.
To me as the interpreter of the dream it means that he has finished the journey.
꿈의 해석가인 저에게 그것은 그가 여정을 마쳤다는 것을 의미합니다.
Like Paul, the time for his departure has come.
바울처럼, 그의 떠날 시간이 왔습니다.
He has fought the good fight.
그는 선한 싸움을 싸웠습니다.
He has finished the race and kept the faith.

Henceforth, there is laid up for him the crown of righteousness.

This crown is not something filled with jewels, but is the victor’s crown.

Only when one has finished the race can the crown be given.
경주를 마친 자만이 면류관을 받을 수 있습니다.
He has fought his own battle with himself, and he has won.
그는 자신과의 싸움에서 싸웠고, 이겼습니다.
His flight into the heavens is a plan which will erupt, causing him to depart this world of Caesar to personally experience Christmas.
그의 하늘로의 비행은 폭발하여 그가 이 시저의 세상을 떠나 개인적으로 크리스마스를 경험하게 할 계획입니다.
Christmas is not the incarnation of God, but the departure of Man as God. for God became Man that Man may become God.
크리스마스는 하나님의 성육신이 아니라 하나님으로서의 인간의 출발입니다. 하나님께서 인간이 되신 것은 인간이 하나님이 되게 하기 위함이기 때문입니다.
In my friend’s dream he took the images of the twentieth century, and since everything contains within itself the capacity for symbolic significance, an airplane symbolises that which takes off towards the heavens.
제 친구의 꿈에서 그는 20세기의 이미지를 사용했고, 모든 것이 그 자체 내에 상징적 의미를 가질 수 있는 능력을 포함하고 있으므로, 비행기는 하늘을 향해 이륙하는 것을 상징합니다.
It’s destined to rise above the earth.
그것은 지구 위로 올라가도록 운명 지어졌습니다.
The “P” is the plan of departure which begins with a spiritual birth, followed by the revelation of man’s true identity.
“P”는 영적 탄생으로 시작하여 인간의 참된 정체성이 드러나는 것으로 이어지는 출발 계획입니다.
There is no way of knowing who you really are until God’s Son reveals it, for “No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and no one knows who the Father is except the son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”
하나님의 아들이 그것을 드러낼 때까지는 여러분이 진정 누구인지 알 방법이 없습니다. “아들이 누구인지 아는 자는 아버지 외에는 없고, 아버지가 누구인지 아는 자는 아들과 아들이 택하여 계시하는 자 외에는 없느니라.”
The Son must choose to reveal you, for only then do you know you are God the Father.
아들이 여러분을 드러내기로 선택해야 합니다. 그래야만 여러분이 하나님 아버지임을 알기 때문입니다.
I am the way. I am the truth. I am the light.
나는 길이요, 진리요, 빛이니라.
No one comes to the awareness of being the Father except by God’s plan.
하나님의 계획 없이는 아무도 아버지 되심을 인식하지 못합니다.
Diet will not do it.
식이요법으로는 안 됩니다.
Wearing certain clothes, hibernating in some so-called holy place, or being a priest and going up the ranks will not do it.
특정 옷을 입거나, 소위 성스러운 장소에서 동면하거나, 사제가 되어 계급을 올라가는 것으로는 안 됩니다.
There is only one way to the Father, and I – all imagination – am the way!
아버지께로 가는 길은 오직 하나뿐이며, 나 – 모든 상상력 – 가 그 길이니라!
My friend is a happily married man with three children, yet he is so hungry for the truth. so I say: Father, let the truth of my words be known, that he and all those who believe my words know that the love with which thou has loved me may be in them, and I in them.
제 친구는 세 자녀를 둔 행복한 기혼 남성이지만, 그는 진리에 너무나 굶주려 있습니다. 그래서 저는 말합니다: 아버지, 제 말의 진리가 알려지게 하소서. 그와 제 말을 믿는 모든 사람들이 당신께서 나를 사랑하신 그 사랑이 그들 안에 있고, 내가 그들 안에 있음을 알게 하소서.
One day you will discover that God – the Father who became you – has completed his work.
어느 날 여러분은 하나님 – 여러분이 되신 아버지 – 께서 그분의 일을 마치셨다는 것을 발견하게 될 것입니다.
And because he was God when he became you, when his work is complete you will become aware that you are God.
그리고 그분께서 여러분이 되셨을 때 하나님이셨기 때문에, 그분의 일이 완성되면 여러분은 자신이 하나님임을 인식하게 될 것입니다.
There is only one way to know this for a fact, and that is when God’s son, David, stands before you and reveals you as his father.
이것을 사실로 아는 유일한 방법은 하나님의 아들 다윗이 여러분 앞에 서서 여러분을 그의 아버지로 드러낼 때입니다.
Then the temple of the Living God – which is spirit -is split in two, and you ascend into heaven as a fiery serpent.
그러면 살아계신 하나님의 성전 – 영이신 – 이 둘로 갈라지고, 여러분은 불타는 뱀으로 하늘로 올라갑니다.
And finally, the symbol of the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove descends, and – clothing you with Himself – once more sends you back into this world, to tell your story to those who will listen.
그리고 마침내 비둘기 형상의 성령의 상징이 내려와 – 그분 자신으로 여러분을 입히시고 – 다시 한번 여러분을 이 세상으로 보내어, 들을 사람들에게 여러분의 이야기를 전하게 하십니다.
This gentleman had a wonderful dream.
이 신사분은 멋진 꿈을 꾸었습니다.
He may some day devise a plan that Western Airlines will use to ease the boarding congestion, but that was not the message of the dream.
그는 언젠가 웨스턴 항공이 탑승 혼잡을 완화하기 위해 사용할 계획을 고안할지도 모르지만, 그것이 꿈의 메시지는 아니었습니다.
He is departing this world of Caesar.
그는 이 시저의 세상을 떠나고 있습니다.
Having already had these experiences, he has forgotten them.
이미 이러한 경험들을 했음에도 불구하고 그는 그것들을 잊어버렸습니다.
But he will remember and know that when the time comes for him to depart this little section of time, he will not be restored to life, but will enter the New Age.

Being one with the body of God he will know no restrictions, only the complete freedom of being God the Father.

Having entered the world, God the Father of all life incarnated himself in your flesh and blood body as the son.

When God’s work is complete, He will depart this body and return to his heavenly body as the Father, redeeming you.
하나님의 일이 완성되면, 그분은 이 몸을 떠나 아버지로서 그분의 하늘 몸으로 돌아가시어 여러분을 구속하실 것입니다.
This is the way to redemption, and there is no other way.
이것이 구속의 길이며, 다른 길은 없습니다.
Although the words, “I and my father are one, yet my father is greater than I” appear to be contradictory, they are true.
“나와 아버지는 하나이나 내 아버지는 나보다 크시다”라는 말은 모순되어 보이지만 사실입니다.
When I – the awareness – take on the limitation of flesh, I am aware of limitation.
나 – 인식 – 가 육체의 한계를 취할 때, 나는 한계를 인식합니다.
Finding myself in the form of a slave, I become obedient until death upon the cross called Man, where I remain as God, restricted by my incarnation.
종의 형상을 한 나 자신을 발견하고, 나는 인간이라 불리는 십자가에서의 죽음까지 순종하게 되며, 그곳에서 나는 하나님으로서 성육신에 의해 제한된 채로 남아 있습니다.
Then a predetermined plan erupts and delivers me from my self-imprisonment, and I return to the being I was – but now enhanced because of my self-imposed restriction.

Then I can say with Paul: “I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. Now there is laid up for me the laurel leaf – the crown of righteousness.”

I am reminded of a story told of Charles William Eliot, who – when he retired as president of Harvard University – was given a gift by an old friend in Boston which he treasured greatly.
하버드 대학교 총장에서 은퇴했을 때 보스턴의 오랜 친구로부터 매우 소중히 여기는 선물을 받은 찰스 윌리엄 엘리엇에 관한 이야기가 생각납니다.
His friend sent him an envelope containing a single laurel leaf.
그의 친구는 그에게 월계수 잎 하나가 담긴 봉투를 보냈습니다.
Its message was clear.
그 메시지는 분명했습니다.
He was being told he was victorious.
그는 자신이 승리했다는 말을 듣고 있었던 것입니다.
Everyone will eventually receive that crown of righteousness, as the same crown is given to all who come to the end of the journey.
여정의 끝에 도달하는 모든 사람에게 같은 면류관이 주어지므로, 모든 사람이 결국 그 의의 면류관을 받게 될 것입니다.
Coming out from the awareness of being God the Father, you came into the world, becoming aware of being Man.
하나님 아버지이심을 인식하는 상태에서 나와, 여러분은 세상에 와서 인간임을 인식하게 되었습니다.
You are predestined to return to the awareness of being God the Father once more.
여러분은 다시 한번 하나님 아버지이심을 인식하는 상태로 돌아가도록 예정되어 있습니다.
This is the story of Man.
이것이 인간의 이야기입니다.
God comes into the world by assuming human form.
하나님은 인간의 형상을 취함으로써 세상에 오십니다.
He incarnates himself at the birth of a child in order for it to breathe.
그분은 아이가 숨을 쉴 수 있도록 아이의 탄생 시에 자신을 성육신하십니다.
While here God goes through literal hell, because his life does not end with the grave.
여기에 있는 동안 하나님은 문자 그대로 지옥을 겪으십니다. 왜냐하면 그의 삶은 무덤으로 끝나지 않기 때문입니다.
Making his exit from this world of death, God is restored to life to continue the journey. to die and be restored once more, over and over again, until he finds this series of supernatural events which leads God to his home – and Christmas.
이 죽음의 세상에서 퇴장하여, 하나님은 여정을 계속하기 위해 생명으로 회복되십니다. 죽고 다시 한번 회복되기를 반복하다가, 마침내 하나님을 그의 집 – 그리고 크리스마스 – 로 이끄는 이 일련의 초자연적인 사건들을 발견하게 됩니다.
Christmas marks the birth of man as God, not the birth of God as man.
크리스마스는 하나님으로서의 인간의 탄생을 의미하며, 인간으로서의 하나님의 탄생을 의미하지 않습니다.
There is all the difference in the world.
세상에는 모든 차이가 있습니다.
Matthew and Luke tell the story of the birth, not as a little physical child, but as a sign of an individual’s birth as God, for God is born that day in the city of David.
마태와 누가는 육체적인 작은 아이로서가 아니라, 개인의 하나님으로서의 탄생의 표시로서 탄생 이야기를 전합니다. 그날 다윗의 성에서 하나님께서 태어나시기 때문입니다.
When God is born in you it will be in the city of David.
하나님께서 여러분 안에서 태어나실 때, 그것은 다윗의 성에서 일어날 것입니다.
At that moment you are born as God.
그 순간 여러분은 하나님으로 태어납니다.
And from then on you will grow in stature.
그리고 그때부터 여러분은 키가 자랄 것입니다.
You will grow in favor of the Father because you will know yourself to be one with him.
여러분은 아버지의 은총 안에서 자랄 것입니다. 왜냐하면 여러분은 자신이 그분과 하나임을 알게 될 것이기 때문입니다.
You will continue to remain incarnate, however, until that moment when you express your last breath.
그러나 여러분은 마지막 숨을 내쉴 때까지 계속해서 성육신한 상태로 남아 있을 것입니다.
Then you will discover yourself to be life itself, for you will have entered the one body, one Spirit, one Lord, one God and Father of all.

In the Book of Genesis we are told that when the flood of illusion is over, the dove appears bringing back the laurel leaf – the sprig of victory.

There is no other way back to the realisation of being God the Father, for He literally became you that you may become God.

We are told that Jesus Christ is God’s son, yet it is he who claims: I and my Father are one.

He who sent me has seen the Father.

Claiming to be the son who is the Father is a paradox. yet it is resolved when you realise that the son – coming out from the Father – remains the Father, but is restricted by incarnation.
아버지인 아들이라고 주장하는 것은 역설입니다. 그러나 아들 – 아버지에게서 나온 – 이 아버지로 남아 있지만 성육신에 의해 제한된다는 것을 깨달을 때 그것은 해결됩니다.
God the Father takes upon himself the form of a slave, and – becoming the son – he is obedient until death, even death upon the cross of Man.
하나님 아버지는 종의 형상을 취하시고 – 아들이 되시어 – 죽음, 심지어 인간의 십자가에서의 죽음까지 순종하십니다.
This God wears, as He moves from one state to another, to another in what the world calls death, until God experiences the one definite plan to return to himself – the Father.

So Christmas marks, not the incarnation of God, but the birth of man, as God.
그래서 크리스마스는 하나님의 성육신이 아니라, 하나님으로서의 인간의 탄생을 의미합니다.
