Tonight’s subject is eschatology, which is the doctrine of the final things, the end of your journey.

This journey begins when God enters death’s door – the human skull – and lies down in the grave of man in visions of eternity, until he awakes and sees the linen clothes lying there that the females wove for him at the gate of his Father’s house.

The drama of the end begins when you awake in your skull to find yourself completely alone, sealed in this tomb where you were buried.

Pushing yourself out of this divine sepulcher, you will see all of the symbolism of the birth of God recorded in scripture, which is really your birth.

Theologians place these events 2,000 years ago, but I tell you: this eschatology – this drama of the end – happens to the individual.

It is not of a collective group, but an individual experience, as every man must individually fulfill scripture.

The visions of the end are not something you look forward to in time and space.

Having been buried in that holy sepulcher which is your skull for unnumbered centuries, you awaken from your long, long sleep of death.

Then you come out, and looking back you see the body you have just vacated.

It is ghastly pale, lying on its back, tossing its head from side to side like one in recovery from a great ordeal.

It is you, yet you are not it, for you are spirit.

Now alive in an entirely different sphere, you see a wind blowing.

It seems to come from the corner of the room, but it is from within you.

There, on the floor, you find an infant wrapped in swaddling clothes.

Picking up the child, you look into its face and exclaim with joy, for it is yourself!

This is the sign spoken of in the Book of Luke: “This shall be a sign unto you.

The word “manger” means “a place to eat, to feed.”

And you are going to feed this spiritual child by being faithful to the word of God.

Five months later an explosion will take place within you, and God’s only son, David, will stand before you and call you Father.

It is he who reveals you to yourself as God the Father.

Four months later your body is split from top to bottom, revealing its golden, liquid light within.

Fusing with it, you ascend into heaven like a fiery serpent.

And the final act occurs two years and nine months later when the Holy Spirit – in the form of a dove – descended upon me and smothered me with affection.

These are the four mighty acts of God.

They are his eschatology, his drama of the end, which is being fulfilled and will be fulfilled in you.

Now, Blake made this statement: “The Old and New Testaments are the great code of art.”

Then he entered death’s door – the human skull – and is dreaming this dream of life.

While dreaming, he is playing all the parts, the good, the bad, and the indifferent.

This is not a story of some little man who lived 2,000 years ago.

It is the eternal story of God’s plan of redemption, which is forever unfolding in the imagination of men.

You are God, dreaming this dream of life.

And one day you will awaken to know that you are the dreamer, and the dream.

You will know that you are God the Father, and your son, David, will stand before you and call you Father.

This is the end of the journey.
